Paula H. Harvey, SPHR, GPHR is the President of K&P Consulting. Her firm provides consulting in Human Resources and Safety, including recruitment, legal compliance, and training. She has worked in the retail, services, and manufacturing industries. She offers her broad HR generalist and safety experiences to small and medium sized organizations.

Mrs. Harvey has worked for over 20 years as a Human Resources generalist. She earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in International Marketing and Operations Management from the University of Texas at Austin. She has also earned her Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) and a Global Professional of Human Resources (GPHR) certified HR professional. She has also completed at the top of her class the OSHA 501 train-the-trainer course and is an authorized OSHA trainer. She achieved the Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Programs (MESH) certification in July 2005 and the Advanced Safety Certification (ASC) from the National Safety Council in December 2005.

Using her HR certifications and MBA she teaches the SHRM Learning System for certification exam preparation and CPCC (Central Piedmont Community College) Human Resources certification classes and other HR related courses. She is also currently an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte. She has also taught classes at Winthrop University and Gaston College. She also is a frequent speaker/instructor for the Lorman Education Services and the National Business Institute. Mrs. Harvey has spoken or taught on many subjects including Generational Differences in the Workplace, Getting a Seat at the Table, How to Hire the Best, Recruiting and Selection of Employees, HIPAA, HR Metrics, Employee Compensation and Benefits, Effective Employee Labor Relations, the Value of HR Certification, and Health, Safety and Welfare for the HR Professional.

With her husband, Kenneth Harvey, she helps run the financial side of his machine tool services business. She consults with K&P Machine Tool Services Inc’s customers on business procedures, preventative maintenance programs, and safety.

She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) currently serving as President-elect of Union County HR Association and the NC SHRM Certification Director. She has also served as the 2008 NCSHRM State Conference Chair and Charlotte SHRM Past-President. She also served on SHRM’s Health, Safety and Security Panel and the SHRM Disaster Response Panel. She was awarded the North Carolina SHRM “HR Professional of the Year” for her HR work in 2004.

As a volunteer for the American Red Cross, she serves on a local disaster team and instructs health and safety courses. She has also been a certified medical responder. Paula is a Past- President of the Diversity Council of the Carolinas. She is the Troop Leader for Senior Girl Scout Troop #2723 and a Hornet’s Nest Council adult and girl trainer.
